As a Senior Technical Advisor within Skills Resilience in you will provide technical leadership in flood modelling and forecasting skills development and to implement and embed technical excellence within Modelling and Forecasting. You will play a key role in developing, and embedding skills improvements and training programmes.
The Skills Resilience team is a new national team which focuses on ensuring that we are developing the right technical and leadership skills for Modelling and Forecasting. It will ensure that we have a self-development mind-set across Modelling and Forecasting, ‎demonstrate progress using data and evidence, set up and ensure delivery of development programmes.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Advisor to provide technical leadership in flood modelling and forecasting skills development and to implement and embed technical excellence within Modelling and Forecasting. You’ll have a relevant scientific degree or equivalent, and experience in monitoring, developing and embedding skills improvements and training programmes. Knowledge of flood and coastal risk management or river or coastal modelling and forecasting would be an advantage.
Combining an analytical mind with great people skills, you’ll have experience of providing leadership to influence and deliver outcomes and of influencing national and area partners to achieve consistency and improvements to ways of working.
You’ll be happy to hit the ground running and manage your own workload. You will also need to demonstrate that you are well organised and able to work to tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver results are essential to the role.
