As a national trainer in this new role, you will be responsible for the development and co-ordination of national lessons learnt from flood events and exercises and application of lessons to departmental training, development and procedures. This includes continued development and maintenance of national Modelling and Forecasting Incident Management procedures using the Incident Management Academy. In addition, the co-ordination of forecasting centre activity to embed and maintain national ways of working.
Our Operations and Resilience team provides national support on flood forecasting incident response planning, preparedness, training, systems maintenance and development. It also leads on implementing and developing improvements to the flood forecasting services and the products it provides.
You’ll come to us with a relevant scientific degree (e.g. physical geography, environment science) and an understanding and experience of flood forecasting and/or Incident Management.
In this new role, you’ll demonstrate your experience and ability in the identification, review and implementation of national lessons learnt from flood events or other incidents, and exercises. You will show your experience in the development and maintenance of national Incident management or flood forecasting/warning procedures using the Incident Management Academy. You’ll have experience in the operation of incident room activity to embed and maintain national ways of working and strive for consistency.
You’ll be happy to hit the ground running and manage your own workload. You will be building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and strong communication skills are a must. The ability to share information using different communication paths as well as a training background will be an advantage.
