This role is funded by the Thames Regional Flood and Costal Committee (RFCC) as part of a new project created to support the LLFAs in delivering the Government 6 years Capital Investment Programme. We want to recruit a Project Support Officer to provide administrative support to the team and facilitate the communication processes between the team and the rest of our stakeholders involved in the project. The role will be diverse, and you will engage with a range of external and internal organisations involved in the project. Principal tasks will include acting as a secretariat to the Project Board and Steering Group and supporting the two Team Leaders, organising meetings, taking minutes and managing the communication between all the members. You will also look after the Project’s shared inbox and online platform. You will maintain and develop internal information storage and retrieval systems and ensure that information is up to date and readily accessible to facilitate the team’s work (including GIS data). The team covers the Thames RFCC area including but not limited to, parts of London, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The team focuses on:
• Supporting LLFAs to access the capital programme by developing projects within the Thames RFCC.
• Reducing the risk of flooding in the Thames catchment area.
• Acting as a facilitator between different risk management authorities.
Your key partnerships will be with LLFAs, Thames RFCC, Environment Agency and Thames Water.
An environmental or engineering degree or equivalent experience. Able to analyse data and design and implement suitable approaches. Confident communicator. Very strong organisation skills. Strong presentation skills. Excellent IT skills (full Microsoft office suite, GIS and some experience in managing and presenting information). Willingness and able to travel across a large catchment area and hot desk. Ability to balance competing priorities and to work on your own initiative. Experience of public and stakeholder engagement, including with senior local government management and elected members. Full driving licence
