Can you lead, manage and motivate a team to be the best they can be?

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to join our dynamic and progressive Wessex Area Leadership Group. We have a number of Team Leader roles across the South West, protecting the environment and reducing flood risk on both permanent and temporary contracts.

We need, compassionate and enthusiastic leaders able to lead with a flexible approach, providing direction and enhancing the performance of our staff. You will lead by example – promoting our ambitions around equality, diversity and inclusion and supporting personal development and wellbeing. You will need to be a visible leader able to communicate concisely and clearly, with the ability to influence and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. You will need to bring passion to the role. You will be supported by a leadership group and various community networks.

You'll have the opportunity to get involved with our incident response. We have a flexible range of roles you can volunteer for and you’ll get all the training and support you need.
We have a number of permanent and temporary Team Leader positions across our teams in the South West, with our offices in Bridgwater and Blandford. We will be matching experience, skillset and knowledge to the positions we have available. This will be discussed as part of the interview process.

As we emerge from the pandemic we expect teams to be working both virtually and in the office according to business and wellbeing need.
We are looking to strengthen our leadership team with a person who thinks independently, is prepared to challenge and is inclusive.

We are looking for applicants who believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect people and the environment.

You must be passionate about developing other people and have the ability to develop teams and support individuals in achieving their full potential.

We are looking for candidates with strong communication skills and a proven track record in delivering through others.

Experience in managing health, safety and wellbeing would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience of leading and supporting team members through change would also be advantageous.

We welcome applications from candidates who are looking to take their first steps in leadership and if successful we will provide training and support as required.
We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment.

We support flexible working hours and practices to help you strike a good balance between your work life and your personal life. We will also encourage you to keep developing your skills and professional knowledge throughout your career.

The Environment Agency offer an extensive range of employee benefits such as flexible working, competitive annual leave scheme and pension, cycle to work scheme, staff networks, an Employee Assistance Programme, sports and social clubs and discount schemes.
