The Environment Agency protects and improves the environment for both people and wildlife. The Waterways Business Support Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Thames navigation and working with customers.

We are looking for someone to join our navigation team based at Kings Meadow House in Reading. Your role will encompass a variety of activities ranging from:

• Engaging with customers and supporting in communications
• Providing admin support to our volunteers
• Updating the River Conditions Website
• Stock control
• Accommodation licence issuing and checking
• Toll collection and debt tracking
• General administration work
• The option to get involved in incident response
You will report to the Waterways Business Team Leader, working closely with Navigation Technical Specialists, Senior Navigation Officers and Navigation Officers across the other Waterways teams.

We are the navigation authority for The Thames, through Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey, responsible for the business needs on the non-tidal Thames. The team have a broad range of skills from project management and engagement to toll, moorings and licensing. We are a customer facing service.
• An approachable and helpful nature. A team player able to maintain positive working style and relationships internally and externally.
• Strong organisational skills - ability to multitask and prioritise workload under pressure to meet deadlines when required.
• Adept at using Microsoft Office, especially in Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to handle a diverse range of responsibilities and situations.
• Attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results.
