The Iconic Thames Barrier & Associated Gates (TBAG) play a pivotal role in protecting over £321 billion worth of property and 1.42M people from tidal flooding in London

In this role you will conduct routine maintenance on a range of electrical and electronic assets to a high standard on our Thames Tidal Defences, as well as; occasional fault reporting, diagnosis, and rectification, installation and modification to existing systems, identifying failing assets and suggesting solutions.

This role is day-work, and after a probationary period and training, there is the opportunity to join a standby rota to operate assets for flood defence, respond to incidents, and other operational requirements.

There may be a requirement to work at height, over water or in confined spaces.

All training, tools and Personal Protective Equipment will be provided.

You will also be supported on a personal development path.
The MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) Electrical Team are based at the Thames Barrier in south-east London.

We maintain and operate a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment at several large flood defence structures, and at other associated sites along the tidal Thames.

The team also work closely with the Mechanical and Project teams to ensure the reliability of our assets at all times.
• BS7671:18th Edition certification is essential
• NVQ 3 in an electrical engineering subject or equivalent experience
• Level 3 technical certificate or equivalent experience
• English, Maths and IT key skills certificate or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Low Voltage 3 phase distribution, LV 3 phase motors and starters, UPS systems, lighting
• Electrical maintenance of industrial systems
• Able to work to Method Statements, understand Risk Assessments
• Able to read technical drawings
• Full Driving License
