This is a technical leadership role for flood risk management operations covering Hertfordshire and North London.
Local Delivery Leads (LDLs) have the overview for our annual revenue and capital funded asset management and maintenance programme, which is delivered through internal field operations teams, framework suppliers and other external partners. We are seeking a motivated and outcome focussed person with good people skills. You will become the ‘go to’ revenue and capital spend professional, providing guidance to colleagues whilst maintaining assurance of the programme and identifying efficiencies. The LDLs will help ensure our performance targets are delivered efficiently, effectively and sustainably to meet our net zero carbon target.
Communication, networking and engagement skills are essential as you will be working extensively with internal and external partners to build on existing relationships and forge new ones. You must be able to manage data and present it in a way that is clear and engages a wide audience. You will also need an oversight of resources and steer what is required to ensure successful delivery.
You will be part of a national network of LDL colleagues working collaboratively across the organisation.
You will be required to support our incident management response.
The Local Delivery Leads are an important part of the Area Operations leadership team, and also work closely with area teams, National colleagues and partners.
Area Operations maintain an extensive range of assets to manage flood risk across Hertfordshire and North London. We have an essential role in ensuring our assets are in good condition and operate when required and we achieve our corporate ambition to become a world class asset management service.
We require a track record of delivering programmes or complex projects with knowledge of procurement and project processes. The ability to effectively manage finances is essential.
You will have a good understanding of asset management principles including lifecycle delivery.
You must have leadership skills and excellent people and relationship building capability.
A working knowledge of Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Environmental Risk Management is desirable.
Experience of operational incidents is desirable.
The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce which reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
Our office is located in Welwyn Garden City, a short walk from the town centre and railway station. Free parking is also available.

You will be required to travel across the area which we are responsible for, therefore a Full Driving Licence is required.
