An exciting assignment opportunity has arisen within Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire area’s Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology (FBG) team.

The successful applicant will be required to provide Biodiversity advice and guidance to a range of customers and partners on a diverse range of topics, from advice to Planning Authorities on new developments to working with our own Flood Risk Management Teams to manage and influence the annual maintenance programme.

There will be opportunities to work with external partners and stakeholders and other Environment Agency functions delivering projects that provide a wide range of environmental benefits from habitat creation to natural flood management.
The Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology team delivers a vital service that underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities. You’ll join a well-established experienced team of technical officers and technical specialists providing advice and support to other Environment Agency functions as well as delivering our own specific priorities in Fisheries, Biodiversity & Geomorphology.

The Team works in partnership with others and collaborative working is key to achieving our objectives.
You will have experience of working in a dynamic team environment responding to deadlines and changing priorities. Experience of working in a related field would be an advantage however, knowledge and awareness of biodiversity and conservation issues in England is essential.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, an awareness of GIS would be beneficial.

An ability to work with a range of customers and partners is key to the role and you will have experience of communicating and influencing at different levels.
