We are seeking to recruit three enthusiastic Environment Officers, to join our Environment Management Waste team in East Anglia Area. These roles may be based at either our Ipswich or Norwich Office. The Team regulates waste facilities to ensure compliance with the Environmental Permitting Regulations and ensures that we deliver our regulatory role with regards to effective waste management. The role also includes responding to and investigating environmental pollution incidents, and where necessary taking appropriate enforcement action.
The Suffolk and Norfolk teams cover a large Area from the North Norfolk Coast to the River Stour Estuary at the southern end of the boundary encompassing rural areas and conurbations including Ipswich, Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The team has a range of experience and capability. You will liaise with colleagues across all departments within the Area and be expected to develop good working relationships.
We are particularly interested to receive applications from candidates who have experience of any of the following:
Investigation and Enforcement,
Permitting and Regulation,
Data and Information Management,
Managing and/or Regulating Amenity issues e.g. noise, odour etc.

You'll be skilled at interpreting complex information and using this to communicate effectively with customers. You'll be able to make informed decisions, influence and persuade businesses and individuals enabling them to comply with current legislation.

You must have the strength of character to deal with challenging and sometimes confrontational situations in a professional manner. Training and support will be provided for these scenarios.
The grade rate for the role is £20,033
This is a lease car qualified role and a full UK driving licence is essential.
Standby and on-call work will be required. You will also be required to take part in incident response.
As an Environment Officer you will be offered structured induction, training and development that supports progression to a higher graded role (Environment Officer Level B starting salary currently £26,869) within 18-24 months.
