This is a diverse role in Asset Performance inspecting flood and coastal risk management assets and to deliver the prevention and remediation of illegal and prohibited activities including:
• damage to flood defences, river control structures and large raised reservoirs
• obstructions to the proper flow of main rivers (conveyance) and floodplain capacity
• the obstruction of the Environment Agency to access main river and coastal defences for maintenance and emergency works
• works defined as flood risk activities causing harm to the environment in contravention of flood risk activity permit
• works carried out as a flood risk activity without a required environmental permit
• works in contravention of local Land Drainage Byelaws under the WRA 1991
• formal enforcement action against Flood Risk Activity operators where appropriate

The role holder will be completing visual inspection of flood risk management assets to ensure they are at target condition, identify any defects requiring attention or further assessment. You will work with colleagues to identify solutions and repairs to defects and assist in planning and programming delivery of works.
Asset Performance is part of Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations, which delivers asset management, enforcement and incident response. The team is responsible for maintaining flood risk management assets at their target condition, making sure our assets are operating, fit for purpose and safe. We inspect assets, record their condition and plan repairs and refurbishment. This post will be working in the Kings Lynn Asset Performance Team covering the north of the Great Ouse Catchment.
You will be comfortable working within a team but key to this role is motivation to work on your own, manage your own workload, and dealing with challenging conversations. Good communication skills are essential as is having excellent time management skills and being able to work to deadlines. Previous experience of an enforcement role would be desirable, but not essential, as is a geographical knowledge of West Norfolk, and working with flood risk assets. Knowledge of the Water Resources Act and Environmental Permitting Regulations is desirable.

This post requires you to hold a Level 2 warrant, if you do not hold one you must be prepared to work towards obtaining one. Appropriate training will be provided if required.
The grade rate is £27,138
Hours : 37 per week.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
We as an Agency take part in incident response. If successful your line manager will discuss arrangements with you depending on your role and circumstances.
