We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced geoscientist with expertise in landfill gas risk assessment and waste gas management. The post is based within a national team of experts working from one of the following locations; Warrington, Bristol, Solihull, Nottingham, Sheffield or Exeter.
You will join an existing core technical team and be responsible for providing technical support to the National Permitting Service (NPS) and local Area teams. You will be working with other technical specialists within the team as well as colleagues across the organisation. To ensure we deliver our goals, you will you need to be comfortable taking decisions and have a strong focus on delivering outcomes.

You’ll be joining the Geoscience Operational Team, part of the National Permitting Service, providing support to NPS (for permit related work), National Environment & Business Teams, and Local Area teams.
The team provides technical support for landfill, mining, deposit for recovery, intensive farming and onshore oil & gas sectors.

You will be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and have proven ability and/or knowledge of:
• Assessment of geological, hydrogeological, or engineering information
• Landfill gas risk assessment – interpretation and modelling of landfill gas risk
• Assessment of landfill monitoring data
• Landfill gas collection and utilisation
• Waste gas management and control
• Gas flaring systems for landfill and onshore oil and gas sectors
We’re ideally seeking individuals with regulatory experience and a working knowledge of the permitting process.
The non-technical requirements for this job include:
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues
• Team working
• Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts
• Excellent communication and customer service skills,
• Influencing and negotiating
• As this is a dispersed team, self motivation is important
• A passion for problem solving and delivering outcomes
