In this important and specialist role, you will handle complex technical issues and show your thorough working knowledge of the producer responsibility regimes as well as other legal areas. You will have up-to-date knowledge of waste law, the Environmental Permitting Regulations or another area of environmental law and a knowledge of or interest in developing expertise in the producer responsibility and industrial installations regimes. No two days will be the same, from providing high quality advice that supports the implementation of new legislation to writing detailed legal briefings on legal topics for use at director, board or even government level and composing correspondence in response to parliamentary questions. You will have the flexibility to be able to assist with other work across the national team.

You will use your organisational skills and maturity of judgement to handle a complex, large and demanding workload with a high degree of autonomy and have a proven track record of delivering high quality and high volume work on time that is fit for purpose. You will be recognised as a senior practitioner and role model, training functional specialists and key external stakeholders in relevant areas of the law.
This role is based in our national Waste team of specialist lawyers who work closely with a range of clients, stakeholders and government departments.
You will be a fully qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister or legal executive), with relevant experience advising on technical issues.
