We are looking for an exceptionally talented Biodiversity Officer to provide high quality advice to a variety of customers on Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) schemes and maintenance programs, planning applications, Environmental Permits and hydropower, as well as projects that enhance and improve river habitat and deliver Water Framework Directive outcomes.
You will champion the work of the Fisheries, Biodiversity & Geomorphology Team (FBG) and awareness of conservation issues in everything you do.
This is a temporary position until 31 May 2019 preferably based in our Tewkesbury Office.
You will be part of a highly motivated team working in West Midlands with a mix of rural and urban, upland and lowland rivers, species and habitats. The team delivers a range of Water Framework Directive projects which require your advice and support. The team also supports other internal and external partners to enhance the rivers, estuaries and wetlands, focusing on delivering our Water Framework Directive local priorities to create sustainable habitat and improved ecology.
We are seeking technical officers with field and office-based experience and a proven ability of delivering biodiversity, fisheries and / or conservation work for the last 3-5 years.
Ideally you will have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline but experience is more important to us.
You should also have:
• Positive communication, influencing and team working skills
• Excellent knowledge of biodiversity, conservation and relevant legislation & key Habitats and Species
• Field survey experience
• A broad understanding of other Environment Agency functions and their requirements
• Excellent IT skills in word, excel and database management.

The role will be based in our Tewkesbury Office with regular working across the area and area offices.
The post requires a full UK driving licence.
