The Partnership and Strategic Overview (PSO) team develop an understanding of, and manage, flood and coastal erosion risk by working in partnerships to benefit communities and the environment where it is most needed. Through developing our knowledge of risk of flooding from all sources, we can help landowners, local authorities and others understand how we can work together to reduce flood risk.

On a daily basis you will;
Provide flood risk advice on planning applications which we are consulted on by the Local Planning Authority,
Determine Flood Risk Permits,
Act as Senior User on our Flood Risk Schemes,
Contribute to improving our understanding of flood risk.
PSO co-ordinates our relationship with other flood risk management authorities. We compile, manage and use the best available evidence through our mapping, modelling and data work to inform our long term strategic plans and investment programme. We work with internal and external partners to plan and deliver future projects, securing funding and ensuring efficiencies are made. We also service data requests, determine Flood Risk Permits and provide technical FCRM advice to planning authorities.
You’ll need to be passionate about reducing flood risk for local communities. You’ll be highly organised, with an efficient and logical approach to data management and workload prioritisation. You’ll also need to be someone who can work as part of a successful team to deliver real improvements on the ground. Ideally, you will understand and may have some experience of the principles underpinning flood risk management, project management or hydraulic modelling, but this is not essential.
