We are the Environment Agency. On an average year we respond to around 25,000 incidents from floods, to waste fires, droughts to water pollution, as well as a number of incidents that impact our on business continuity. We work with other response agencies and communities to reduce the impacts of incidents on the natural environment, human health or property.

Ensuring that our staff are fully prepared and our services give our customers and partners the very best information and advice, to respond well when it matters, is the role of the Incident Management and Resilience (IM&R) department within our National Operations Directorate.

If you’re passionate about incidents, full of ideas about how we could improve our response and good at making changes happen here’s your chance to put that into practice.
This role sits in Incident Management and Resilience 'Service Management' who; set standards, assure delivery of outcomes, review learning from previous incidents and manage improvement programmes to ensure that our incident management service is performing well and our ambitions are met.

Your role will be part of a small nationally dispersed team and will focus on monitoring and reporting of performance information for incident management that helps tell us if we are meeting organisational standards.
A good level of literacy and numeracy is required.

Ability to exercise judgement in prioritisation and highlighting potential issues.

Confident to communicate with others within and outside of team.

Required to use standard IT packages such as Excel efficiently and able to learn specialised systems as required.

A self-starter and proactive in building productive working relationships with others as part of a dispersed team.

Experience or knowledge of incident management within the Environment Agency or one of its professional partners is not essential for this role but would be an advantage.

The preferred location for this role will be Horizon House in Bristol. However other Environment Agency offices (subject to Facilities approval) will be considered depending on candidate experience.

Some travel and occasional overnight stays will be expected, as the team are dispersed across the country.

You’ll be expected to undertake an incident management role which will, on occasion, require you to work outside of office hours, you’ll get a choice of role and support and training to do it.

Data and evidence underpin all decisions in the Environment Agency and is vitally important to how we manage incidents successfully. This will be a key part of your role.
