The successful candidate will assist with our programmes of works, undertake laboratory analysis of macro-invertebrate samples to mixed taxonomic level and interpret and report this data. You'll also support the wider work of the Analysis and Reporting team through field work, data analysis, report writing and work closely with other Environment Agency teams.
The West Midlands Analysis and Reporting team is responsible for ensuring chemistry, ecology and fishery monitoring programmes collect the information we need for a variety of legislative, national and local requirements. The team is comprised of officers skilled at monitoring field-work, laboratory work, and with an expertise in assessing this multi-functional monitoring data and turning it into evidence. This evidence informs the wider business and ultimately helps underpin environmental improvements.
- Macro-invertebrate identification skills
- Practical experience and familiarity with field-work and working in a laboratory.
- An ability to analyse, interpret and report ecology data.
- Relevant scientific degree.
- Ability to manage workload to tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills.
