As an advisor in the Water Monitoring Commissioning and Strategy Team, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to drive forward the implementation of the Water Environment Monitoring Strategy, ensuring our monitoring approach is fit for the future and delivers an effective service to our customers.

In this role, you will collaborate with a wide range of teams to help shape, influence, and assure future improvement plans, and deliver vital packages of work. With the team, you will play an important role in embedding the delivery of business improvements such as new tools and ways of working.

As a champion of environmental water monitoring, you will be on the frontline, elevating the visibility and value of monitoring both now and in the future and building the strong footings needed to implement the strategy.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

This is a part time role 0.6FTE, with interviews held virtually over MS Teams in February. We will be in contact with the successful candidates to confirm availability for interviews.
The post sits within the Water Monitoring Commissioning & Strategy Team, within the Environment and Business Directorate. The team work across functions to develop and implement a long-term Monitoring Strategy, ensuring that our evidence is robust and meets our future needs.

We are a dispersed national team and support flexible and home working. You will need to be comfortable working remotely and using MS teams. Some UK travel including overnight stays will be required.
This role requires someone who can work collaborate with the team and others, with good organisational skills, who can manage and prioritise workloads to plan strategically, and communicate well.

Through your existing experience you will ideally be able to demonstrate:
• A good understanding of water monitoring and how it drives environmental improvements (essential).
• Evidence of delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering, and maintaining data/information (essential).
• Good technical leadership and communication skills (essential).
• Experience in quickly establishing and sustaining effective relationships (essential).
• Experience in leading and supporting working groups and organising/facilitating effective meetings (essential).
• Using your own initiative to set goals, make decisions and achieve planned outcomes (essential).
