We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead our Nottingham Asset Performance Team. You will manage a multidisciplinary team with a varied range of technical, engineering and construction skills to ensure our flood risk assets are inspected, maintained, improved, and perform at their best during flood events. You will achieve this whilst complying with HSW, internal and legislative requirements.
Your duties will include:
• Taking a risk-based approach to manage our assets over their life cycle to reduce flood risk to the communities they protect.
• Motivating and empowering team members to achieve their potential.
• Being visible and available to provide guidance and wellbeing support, particularly during organisational change.
• Building good relationships, internally and externally and managing the team budgets.
• Managing and promoting Health Safety and Wellbeing of team members, while ensuring the correct training is received and competencies are maintained to carry out asset/incident management activities.
• Undertaking the role of Responsible Officer, ensuring compliance with legislation, safety, security and environmental control.
• Promoting and reinforcing the Environment Agency’s vision and culture.

Travel to site and across the East Midlands will be required, therefore, a full UK driving licence is required. We also expect all applicants to be prepared and willing to actively participate in an out of hour's formal incident role, which attract additional payments. Based in Nottingham, your team will support all stages of the asset management lifecycle, from planning new assets and maintaining our current asset base to decommissioning assets across the patch. The team inspects assets through visual and detailed assessment and develops work programmes through collaboration with other technical teams to ensure interventions fit within business strategies/budgets. The team deliver all works in line with CDM Regulations.
You will have excellent leadership skills and the ability to provide clear direction, instruction, and guidance through effective performance management. You will have the ability to recognise strengths, vulnerabilities and motivations within a team. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire your team and embed organisational change. Strong budget management skills and a track record of project/programme delivery is essential, ideally with a sound grasp of engineering and construction principles.
A relevant degree (or similar experience) and a professional qualification (such as Institute of Asset Management Certificate or Incorporated / Chartered status) is beneficial but not essential. Health & Safety experience including CDM (preferably Client role competency) and CSCS card are also beneficial.
