In this role you will manage flood defence assets in the Broads and Waveney valley.

You will lead on planning and programming medium and long term maintenance of flood defence assets across the Broads. You will translate new and emerging strategies into practical asset management plans, deliverable projects and programmes of intermittent maintenance.

Working closely with the team you will be responsible for the management of below required condition and failing assets. Assessment of the risks, benefits and costs associated with these assets will be central to the process of identifying sustainable solutions. In collaboration with internal teams, framework contractors and partner organisations you will oversee this process and deliver the outcomes through managing reconditioning and decommissioning projects.

As an Advisor you will provide experience and technical expertise, and support and coach other team members to ensure the team provides excellent asset management.

The role is based in Norwich. However, we are adopting new ways of working which allows some flexibility to work from home. The role also requires regular site work throughout the year.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Asset Performance is part of Operations, undertaking asset management and incident response.

The team is responsible for managing flood risk assets in the Broads and Waveney valley. Much of the area is below sea level, therefore the work of the team is vital to the area and its communities.

The team is developing new effective ways of planning and delivering maintenance across the Broads and Waveney Valley; working closely with suppliers and partner organisations.
Essential:

• Be comfortable working within a team and on your own, able to manage your own workload and work to priorities.
• Good communication skills are essential as is having time management skills and being able to work to deadlines and quality standards.
• Experience of managing engineering and/or technical projects and you will be familiar with using and producing technical and operational documents.
• An appetite to learn from others and work collaboratively to solve problems.
• Be able to proactively initiate and lead work and achieve outcomes.
• Expertise in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel is expected along with a track record of providing excellent customer service.
• A full UK driving licence.

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

• Experience of GIS and AutoCAD software
• A qualification in civil or geotechnical engineering and/or experience working in the engineering or construction sector
