If you’re part of the Environment Agency, you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment for future generations, tackling issues of national importance across a huge variety of disciplines.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of our Asset Performance teams in Yorkshire, where you will have an important role in managing our flood risk assets. You will be helping to deliver a wide variety of work to ensure that we have the right flood risk assets in the right places, in the correct condition and they are ready to operate when required.

As one of our Asset Performance Officers, you will play a key role managing the Environment Agency’s range of flood risk assets. You will be the lead officer for a geographical area or an area of work and will have ownership of specific work, activities, and relationships. This role is very varied so you may be influencing a project one day, managing our data the next day and liaising with contractors, residents, and partners on another. Site visits are an essential part of the role. There is also an opportunity to work on incident response.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and workplace adjustments will be available to support you with your incident role.
Our team manage the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal erosion risk management assets, i.e., planning, delivery, operation, decommissioning. We are responsible for ensuring our assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained, and operated in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. This is a front-line role working to better protect local communities from flooding by ensuring our assets are ready and operate as intended.
We're seeking people with a passion for the environment and asset management experience to protect communities who are at risk of flooding. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable to take a lead role in managing our assets.

Ideally you can demonstrate the following:

• Knowledge of flood risk management
• Proven data management skills
• Engineer or Asset Management qualifications or work-based experience.
• Practical experience of undertaking works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
• Health, Safety and Environmental awareness
• Excellent IT skills
• Full UK or EU driving licence

Please note that we do not accept CVs, and your answers to the capability questions will be used for interview selection.
We're fully committed to being an inclusive employer and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone. We strive to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and hope to attract applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion.

We have a superb benefits package, including generous annual leave, an excellent pension, and flexible working arrangements.. We also offer extensive training to develop your career.

If you're thinking of applying and want to find out what it's like to work in this role and our Asset Performance team, please let us know - we can arrange for one of our team to contact you.

Interviews will be held at the end of June.
