We need someone to work with us to provide advice and guidance to a major infrastructure project with the potential to threaten the biodiversity of our environment – which includes habitat, and ecological designations, of international significance.

This is a permanent appointment, although internal assignment would be considered. Assignment duration can be discussed. We would also consider facilitating a job share for those wanting part-time hours.

Working with other team members and specialist colleagues, you will oversee the discharge of planning requirements, and ensure compliance with environmental permitting processes. You'll support the project manager to coordinate the various workstreams that contribute to one of the country’s most significant infrastructure projects.

You'll work with colleagues to monitor, and influence, the development company during the planning, construction, operation and regulatory phases of the project.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that the developer’s commitments, including mitigation funding, are discharged. You will be the team’s main point of contact for the associated steering groups and forums. You'll also liaise with interested community groups as necessary.

This is an opportunity to make a long-lasting and permanent change for the better in our environment, in a way that may never arise again.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

We offer a hybrid working model, which provides flexibility in how and when you work. You will be office-based with the option to incorporate home working. This role may also require some occasional national travel.

For more info on working with us see https://environmentagencycareers.co.uk/
We are a team focused on gaining the best outcome for the Suffolk environment during the construction phase of a proposed New Nuclear Power Station at Sizewell.

Working together with other colleagues we offer advice to the developer and regulate them to ensure that the environment is protected during the construction and operation of the proposed nuclear power station. This includes managing dewatering, water discharges, construction waste activities, air emissions, desalination, and drainage.
Essential:

You will have experience of working with others to deliver projects against time and budget targets.

You'll be an effective communicator, methodical and well-organised. You will have the ability to deal with challenges and questions confidently. You’ll be willing to learn through experience and to ask for expert advice when needed.

You will be open-minded in your dealings with others, while understanding the need for effective regulation.

It will be helpful, but not essential, if you have knowledge of:

- planning regulations and legislative frameworks
- the powers and duties of the Environment Agency.
- protected species and designations, such as:
Water Environment Regulations,
Eels Regulations,
Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act,
