Then the National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) team is looking for you!

We are looking for an Environmental Project Manager to join our NEAS team.

NEAS oversees the effective identification and management of environmental risk on our FCERM projects and helps identify and deliver environmental enhancements that leave a better place. Our NEAS Hub Teams (there are 6 across England) are responsible for the input of high quality environmental and sustainability advice to the Integrated Delivery Teams for each Delivery Hub. Our input is principally at the project development stages where we ensure that the need for environmental consents and approvals is identified.

You’ll be involved in ground-breaking and award-winning work, leaving a legacy for the future through effective collaboration across internal departments, the wider Defra group, statutory bodies, our Supply Partners, businesses, and communities.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role
The National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability team (NEAS) is part of Major Projects and Programme Delivery. You will find the Eastern NEAS teams are motivated and passionate advocates for the environment. Essential:

Educated in environmental science or a related subject
Experience in managing the environmental risk in projects
Effective communication
Effective influencing skills

Desirable:

Basic knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment.
Membership of a professional environmental institute.
Relevant environmental involvement in infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of flood and coastal risk management.
Experience as an adviser within multi-disciplinary project teams.

A driving licence is ideally required

You will be required to regularly travel across the Thames area. Some national travel with occasional overnight stays will be required. Working from home when not needed at site or in an office is supported.
