It’s a fantastic time to work for the Environment Agency as we step forward to tackle the climate and nature emergency. As part of Local Operations you are at the heart of shaping and delivering key outcomes that make a difference to the communities we work with in a way that positively impacts the environment for generations to come. As managers within the Portfolio Delivery Office, you’ll lead business facing teams supporting Operations to deliver by ensuring we have the right resources (people, knowledge, skills, tools and process) and the right approach to meet with emerging delivery challenges as well as assuring we deliver efficiently and effectively.
Although there are three roles available in our Portfolio Delivery Office, this specific role is the Resourcing Manager who will provide a strategic focus on our delivery resourcing and how we continue to adapt to our evolving resourcing demands. You’ll lead a small technical team to support our delivery teams through providing the right resourcing tools, support and assurance to meet the demands of the business as well as representing MPPD in wider business discussions on our resourcing approach, risks and continuous improvement.
Our Portfolio Delivery Office is part of Major Projects and Programmes within Local Operations working to deliver key outcomes and enable the business to move forward and meet future challenges including our climate ambitions and adapting to deliver for the future. The team specialises in the following technical disciplines; Stakeholder Engagement, Data and Reporting, Resourcing, Operational Monitoring and Risk Management, Commercial and Framework Management.
In terms of experience, we are looking for candidates who have a suitable degree level qualification or substantial experience in a relevant subject, along with demonstrable operational understanding of resource planning and/or portfolio, programme and project management at a leadership level.
In terms of skills, we need highly effective communicators, proven leaders and experienced influencers with an adaptive style who can advocate positively for change, manage process and relationships effectively.
This role is nationally based, so location is flexible.
Subject to the ongoing COVID guidance, some occasional travel and overnight stays may be required over the assignment, but only where necessary and our team positively embraces the use of technology to reduce travel as much as possible.
