The post holder will be responsible for supporting our ambitious programme of flood risk management capital projects by carrying out research and submitting detailed and targeted applications for funding, with the ultimate aim of securing partnership funding for our projects. Working with project managers across multiple projects, you will have an important role supporting our bids and negotiations for partnership funding. Although the job will involve preparing and submitting bids for funding, you will also work closely with project teams to advise and prepare them for discussions with beneficiaries. This is important work as proposed flood reduction projects may not be able to proceed without the necessary partnership funding. The funding you will be responsible for securing will make the difference between a project going ahead or not. This is a challenging role that will work across multiple teams in the Herts and North London Area.

There will be opportunities to get involved in other activities and you will also be able to take on an incident response role if desired which will enable you to get involved in our emergency response to environmental incidents.
The Partnerships and Strategic Overview team have a varied remit within Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM). We engage with many other organisations to deliver FCRM projects. We also have an important role in determining Flood Risk Activity Permits. We are a very friendly and inclusive team with a diverse set of skills and experiences. We cover the Hertfordshire and North London area which is one of the busiest and challenging operational areas in England.
Knowledge of partnership funding principles and previous experience of submitting bids for funding would be preferred. You will need excellent oral and written communication (English) skills and it is essential that you can prioritise your own workload to meet tight deadlines. You will therefore need to be motivated and enthusiastic about partnership funding and our wider objectives of managing flood risk in the communities we serve.

Due to involvement in multiple projects, you will need to be extremely organised and be able to split your time between different activities. You'll need to be able to work effectively as part of a team and individually. You should ideally have knowledge of relevant sources of funding and/or be proficient at researching them. You'll also need to be comfortable meeting and speaking to members of the public when we need to engage with them over proposed projects in their communities.
