To work as an Economist in the Economics and Social Science team, providing economic analysis, tools and evidence to support decision making in the Environment Agency.

This means using economic information and analysis to help protect and improve our natural resources, in a way that provides the best value for money for people and society.

Responsibilities include
• Working in teams with other Economists and customers
• Analysing, translating and disseminating economic evidence data to meet corporate needs
• Managing economic analysis projects (or elements of larger projects) and liaising with customers and suppliers
• Working with the team to raise awareness within the EA of economics and evidence and build economic analysis capacity for operational teams.
We are a team of ten economists and three social scientists within the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Directorate. We work with colleagues across the organisation on a wide variety of areas. We provide quality assurance, strategic advice and help to develop research projects and bespoke economic and social analysis.
Essential
- Working closely with customers and using a variety of communication methods to convey ideas and evidence
- Data gathering and analysis and presenting complex information in a clear and understandable way
- Working in teams or in partnership with analysts from other disciplines and/or government officials and delivery staff.

Desirable
- Working as an economist or role with significant related expertise
- Managing projects and working with customers to scope and design their evidence needs
- Applying economic theory to the work of a complex organisation.
