You must be physically fit and able to perform the duties. This requires manual handling of bulky components in remote, hard to access places. Also the use of vibrating hand tools in various environments.

Boat work is a regular requirement, training will be given. Confined space working may be a requirement periodically, where appropriate training is provided.

Good inter-personal / communications skills are essential; you'll regularly interface with members of the public and our professional partners.

The daily hours of work are 07.30 – 16.20 (summer working), 07.30 – 16.00 (winter working) with 30 minutes for lunch. This team works a 9 day fortnight (every other Friday is a non-working day).

The daily work could be anywhere along the length of the Thames and surrounding catchment areas.

You'll be required to pair up to take part in our 24/7 – 365 “Duty Fitter” standby roster and be prepared to be called out at any time. This means 7 days & nights on call once every four or five weeks.
The MEICA Field Team provides a maintenance service to the business for mechanical, hydraulic & low voltage electrical assets. (locks, weirs, other flood prevention structures). It is a bespoke role for specific assets.

The profile demands fine attention to detail to ensure Agency assets are performing at optimum efficiency and reliability.

We have a vacancy to join the team based at our Sunbury on Thames depot.
You'll need to have a mechanical professional qualification, a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach to fault finding, able to receive instruction and be a “team player”. A driving licence is essential as the team covers a large area across the south east of England and you are expected to work wherever the business requires. You'll be required to use I.T. systems and associated hardware.

A medical will have to be passed before employment can commence.
A licence to drive H.G.V’s would be useful, but not essential.
