This role is for 8 hours per week to assist our other Water Quality Officer and as such requires the successful candidate to have existing experience in water quality work.

A Grade 4 Water Quality officer provides an opportunity to help us maintain environmental performance, on both a local catchment level and working on National Portfolios. The officer will contribute and provide direction on the work of the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, by using data, intelligence, technical knowledge and judgement to identify actions to deliver environmental improvement. Securing delivery of these actions will be achieved by coordinating or providing technical input to plans, reports and other communications and negotiating resource from internal delivery teams. Key to the role is the need to build and maintain productive and influential relationships with external customers and partners and provide specialist advice to working groups and local projects. The role requires experience of using evidence and analysis (including searching EA databases, and performing data analysis and manipulation within Excel) to explore problems and propose effective and innovative solutions. There is a need to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, partners and communities and build relationships with team members, working co-operatively to achieve common goals.
The Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team is predominantly a water planning team with specialists in water quality, water resources and river basin planning.
Working with area operational teams and national colleagues, we collate, analyse and share data, and produce the environmental plans that inform and drive East Midland’s area priorities.

Good communication/influencing skills – You should be able to produce clear/persuasive written material and brief more senior staff and customers face-to-face.

Customer focus – you should be sensitive to the needs of the internal and external customers and able to deliver outcomes through these.

Good research/analysis skills, supporting an ability to make proportionate, evidence-based inferences/proposals from information.

Able to work under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team

Good organisational skills with the ability to plan, track, and deliver to set timescales.

Experience of gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information.

Able to offer professional support to working groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings.
