Environmental Crime Officer in The Major Investigation Room at Solihull to be re-located to Central Birmingham from February 2020. Being part of a team performing a variety of roles, including the registering of documents, indexing material, dealing with the management of exhibits, preparing disclosure schedules under the provisions of The Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act 1996 and case building and preparation. As part of the team you will be responsible for investigating Organised Crime Groups who are primarily involved with large scale illegal deposits of waste throughout England. The Major Investigation Room utilizes The Powercase system using a set of Administrative procedures which enables the Senior Investigating Manager to direct and control the course of the investigation.
On occasions you will be required to visit various Environment Agency offices to offer support and assistance to area based colleagues investigating serious and significant offences.
Initially you will be trained as an Indexer within the MIR.
The Major Investigation Room staffing currently consists of five team members performing an assortment of roles. These include Allocator/Receiver, Indexer, Exhibits Officer, Disclosure Officer and Case Builder. The team are part of The Environment Agency's National Enforcement Service which provides support through several disciplines which includes prevention and disruption, intelligence and Investigations.
Exceptional organisational skills, display excellent verbal and written communication skills, show attention to detail when recording information to support the investigation, deal with working under pressure and prioritize a varied workload, integrate into a team and demonstrate a strong health, safety and wellbeing principles.

Have a practical understanding of the functionality of a Major Investigation Room including the provisions of the Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act 1996.

Able to work with a minimum of supervision and make decisions relating to taking the investigation forward.
Full United Kingdom driving licence preferred.
