This role is part of a flagship multi-agency science programme with a high profile with policy makers in Defra and Treasury. We are looking for experts who relish the thrill of developing a new way of how we make environmental decisions in England. Sentinel is the Environment Agency’s new national evidence capability, and this role is core to its production and delivery. You will work closely with staff across the Environment Agency and Defra to ensure new surveillance monitoring programmes and the capability to understand and interpret the data are delivered to Sentinel’s unique specification and high quality standards. These roles require an organised mind, an eye for detail and an ability to deliver efficient and novel business outcomes via innovative solutions.
At the forefront of a new evidence capability aimed at delivering the needs of the 25 Year Environment Plan and natural capital assessments, the teams will develop the surveillance monitoring and data interpretation needed to prepare the Environment Agency for future national challenges to the water environment such as shifts in land use, climate change and socio-economic pressures. The teams will build the capability to interpret long term changes in natural capital and ecosystem services.
This would be a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to utilise and develop their data and evidence analysis skills and apply them to develop a national capability.

You should:
• have the ability to work well as part of a dispersed team
• be able to identify and use new technology to increase efficiency
• deliver your work with a focus on quality and attention to detail
• have evidence of problem solving and good organising skills.
• work in ‘virtual teams’ to deliver outcomes with people across and beyond the organisation

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with data. Being familiar with Environment Agency monitoring data would help but is not a prerequisite.
There are three temporary roles.
