This post will support a flagship multi-agency science programme with a high profile with policy makers in Defra and HMT. We are looking for technical experts who relish the thrill of being in from the start to join the programme, which will change how we make environmental decisions in England. Sentinel is the Environment Agency’s new national evidence capability, and this role is core to its production and delivery. You will work closely with others from across the Environment Agency and Defra to lead the delivery of new surveillance monitoring programmes and the capability to understand and interpret the resulting data. You will ensure this is delivered to Sentinel’s unique specification and high quality standards. These roles require an organised mind, an eye for detail and an ability to deliver efficient and novel business outcomes via innovative solutions.
At the forefront of a new evidence capability aimed at delivering the needs of the 25 Year economic pressures. The teams will build the capability to interpret long term changes in natural capital and ecosystem services.
This would be a great opportunity for anyone interested in guiding the organisation in the development of a new way of assessing and understanding environmental change and working with a range of colleagues and partners across the Defra family and beyond.

You should:
• have the ability to work well as part of a dispersed team
• have evidence of demonstrating technical leadership
• deliver your work with a focus on quality and attention to detail
• have evidence of customer focus and good organising skills.
• work in ‘virtual teams’ to deliver outcomes with people across and beyond the organisation
There are two Permanent Positions. Our team promotes an inclusive culture and we welcome all applicants, especially colleagues who are disabled, LGBT+ or Black Asian and Minority Ethnic. If you don’t manage to secure a role at this time, we’ll place you upon a reserve list. Where possible, we will attempt to backfill any new vacancies that arise in the next six months from this list.
