Our Industrial Placements run for 54 weeks starting in July-August 2021. Giving you plenty of time to gain valuable experience whilst complementing your studies and personal/professional growth.

During your placement working with the Evidence & Risk team, who provide expertise from flood risk modelling along our rivers and coast to developing new flood forecasting approaches and forecasting fluvial, coastal and surface water modelling/data, you will gain experience and develop your technical skills in areas such as:

- River/coastal modelling and flood forecasting
- Hydrology
- Building, running and analysing detailed mathematical models
- Producing evidence for determining potential impacts on communities
- Informing flood risk management/incident management decisions

The Evidence and Risk team within the Environment Agency work nationally and comprise specialists who work with the wider Environment Agency providing expertise in hydrology, forecasting, fluvial, coastal and surface water modelling and data.
You will work with and learn from experienced members of your appointed team who will coach and mentor you throughout the year to support you to reach your potential.

We are looking for applicants who are studying or have recently studied any of the following subjects Geography, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Natural Science, Maths, Coastal processes/management, Geometics/mapping as part of their degree and have a keen interest in flood risk management.

You will have completed a minimum of two years of your degree course but will not have graduated before summer 2020.
