This is an opportunity for an individual to contribute to protecting scarce groundwater resource in Kent and South London. You’ll be a part of a busy team that delivers specialist technical advice and guidance on hydro-geological and land contamination matters.
You’ll achieve this through assessing technical information, such as site investigation, groundwater risk assessments, soil and groundwater remediation verification reports. Contribute to planning consultations, environmental permits including water discharges and Oil and gas, and voluntary remediation. You'll also respond to customer enquiries and information requests. You will be supporting our response to pollution and flooding incidents.
The Groundwater and Contaminated Land team in Addington, regulates and protects the heavily dependent groundwater resource in Kent and South London area of the South East.

You'll join a team of specialists in land contamination, landfill engineering, groundwater protection, and hydrogeology. Our technical advice is indispensable to other Environment Agency teams in making decisions regarding development, incident management, and permitting.
• You'll ideally be qualified to degree level in a relevant Geoscience discipline such as geology/hydrogeology/geochemistry, land quality.
• Relevant experience and/or a post graduate qualification would be beneficial.
You'll be a good communicator with well-developed time management, data management and interpersonal skills, who can present convincing verbal and written arguments to a wide audience.
• You should also have the ability to work with others to solve complex technical issues.
• You’ll have good computer skills with the ability to make use of IT tools available including GIS and MS Office
• We will support you to work towards Chartered status
