A fantastic opportunity for a new co-funded position and participating within a task team. We desire a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to work within a dedicated waste enforcement team, representing the Environment Agency.

In this role you will be responsible for leading, delivering, the regulation and enforcement for all types of waste sites, permitted and illegal, in the River Road area of Barking. By providing technical leadership you will help plan, develop and deliver integrated strategies with Local Authority colleagues to improve the overall waste regulation in the River Road area.

You will use your experience to take decisions, input to overall strategy, undertake communication and regulatory activities including taking enforcement action. You’ll need to be flexible and able to prioritise your work effectively within the partnership strategy. The work is varied and challenging. The over arching objective is bettering the environment of businesses and local communities. Performance reviews will be conducted by both your line manager (based in WGC) and sponsored manger (base in LBBD). The post holder with have the backing of your much wider team and resource at WGC while day to day spent majority with LBBD.

You will respond to daytime environmental incidents for this area.
This is a new virtual team in conjunction with LBBD to tackle waste crime in the River Road area of Barking. The team will provide strategy, regulation, and enforcement in a fast paced and challenging environment. They will also provide updates to all audiences on milestones reached within the project, and communicate with the public and other stakeholders. The team will also provide incident attendance as required and help towards looking after your welfare
• Be able to demonstrate strong technical leadership, be self-motivated whilst working as part of the integral LBBD group.
• Environment Agency Level 2 warrant or equivalent.
• Excellent understanding of Hazardous Waste Regulations, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and Enforcement procedures as a whole.
• Be comfortable taking legal action against non-compliant operators, and willing to take the lead where necessary.
• An ability to effectively communicate, adapt your behaviour to different people and situations and achieve outcomes through engagement with a wide range of audiences.
• You must work independently, make decisions and prioritise and plan work to achieve good environmental outcomes.
• An ability to input into a culture of efficiency, innovation and quality.
• A full UK driving licence is essential as you’ll undertake fieldwork and travel.

• The role’s base will be at LBBD offices for a minimum of 3 days a week and therefore will attract outer London Weighting. Reporting to HNL EM Team Leader.
• You’ll be expected to do some rostered out of hours standby and on-call work
