You will be involved in the practical work of supporting the training needs for Flood Warning Duty Officers (FWDO) and Assistant FWDO roles - these could include assistance with systems, procedures, workshops and courses.

You will support the Area Incident Team in maintaining and improving the Area incident Rooms.
Support the team with the records management process and have an awareness of team budgets in order to make savings and deliver value for money.

You will:

• Assist in identifying training and development needs of FWDOs and AFWDOs through role analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with the duty staff themselves.
• Have an awareness of costs and budgets;
• Support the induction programmes for new duty staff.
• Produce training materials for in-house courses.
• Assist with the delivery of training and development programme.
• Assist with the maintenance and development of incident management plans and procedures.
• Have an awareness of any projects which may affect incident management, and support task and finish groups and relevant working groups.
• Assist in the development of multi agency plans and procedures.
• Aid external partners with flooding exercises when necessary.
The Flood Resilience Team has 3 main areas of accountability: Flood Incident Management, Flood Warning and Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Engagement. The Wessex Flood Resilience Team is based between 2 offices; Bridgwater and Blandford. We ensure that ourselves, our partners and our communities are prepared for flooding and are able to respond effectively before, during and after a flood
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially in Word and PowerPoint.
• An awareness and understanding of GIS
• An approachable and helpful nature. A team player able to maintain positive working style and relationships internally and externally.
• Strong organisational skills - ability to multi task and prioritise workload under pressure to meet deadlines when required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to handle a diverse range of responsibilities and situations.
• Attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate results.
The Environment Agency is a Category 1 responder. You will be expected to participate in our response to incidents and have a role in an incident, which may include out of hours working.

Travel throughout the area is likely. Therefore a full driving licence is required for this role.
