Can you make a real difference to managing flood risk within Lancashire?

We are looking for an advisor who will work closely with local authority partners in Lancashire to support them in delivering projects which reduce the risk of flooding to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.

You are not expected to have experience in flood risk management but you will possess the transferrable skills identified below.

We are looking for individuals who are motivated, who easily develop supportive and productive relationships with partners and who can adapt their approach to partners’ different needs. Your support will enable project business cases to be prepared and approved more quickly. You might help local authorities to secure resources for their projects, helping them access suppliers through the Environment Agency’s framework.

Delivering projects on the current programme is the priority but you will work with local authority partners to identify future projects to develop the future investment programme and be confident in constructively challenging project and programme delivery.

The role will be based at Lutra House, Preston but you will also work in the local authority offices in your partnership area. Working arrangements will be aligned with the latest Covid-19 guidance.
The post is within Flood Risk Management in Cumbria and Lancashire Area and you will work closely with Area teams and those carrying out a similar role in the North West and be part of this network of Advisors. You will become a supporting member of project teams within the local authorities you support.
Confident and customer focused with the drive to ensure that our work makes a real difference to our communities.
Comfortable working within project and/or programme targets and constraints and constructively challenging the deliverability of projects and programmes.
An influential communicator with the proven ability to build excellent relationships.
