You’ll be part of our Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) community working in the Witham PSO team. This permanent role will provide a great opportunity to further apply your professional experience and advance as a flood technical specialist.

The role will include:

• Taking responsibility as senior user and acting as our area lead for developing the Lower Witham Flood Resilience project.
• Working closely with the Senior Advisor in supporting the ambitions set out in the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England 2020 and FCERM Strategy Action Plan.
• Developing and maintaining good internal and external working relationship for the benefit of improving flood risk management outcomes.
PSO teams focus on four areas – evidence (underpins all our work), strategic overview and planning (overview of flood risk from all sources and tactical direction), project development and delivery (including with other RMAs – the focus for this role) and regulation (e.g. planning consultations and environmental permits). We aim to create more resilient catchments so flooding causes less harm to people, results in less damage and those affected can return to normal more quickly.
We are looking for an experienced flood risk technical specialist ready to move onto the next stage of their career. You’ll have:

• Experience of flood and coastal risk management including river engineering and nature based solutions.
• Good technical knowledge of hydrology and/or river geomorphology and/or river hydraulics.
• Able to act as a senior user with experience of the project environment and developing, assessing and evaluating business cases.
• Ability to undertake high level programme management including links to governance.
• Good problem solving capabilities including developing innovative solutions. .
• Strong communication skills including engagement, influencing, negotiation, customer and relationship management.
• Organised and able to deliver time critical work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information.
• Flexible to the needs of the organisation and new ways of working.
