Would you like to work in a high performing team with a significant influence on the delivery of outcomes on England’s estuaries and coasts?

We need a suitably experienced person to work within a group of marine specialists undertaking wide-ranging monitoring and assessment tasks supporting the Environment Agency to carry out its marine responsibilities. The post-holder will be largely office based, assisting marine specialists and advisors with a range of internal and external tasks with a strong GIS focus. This could range from good spatial data management procedures through to analysing and processing a range of marine health assessment parameters. The post will be based at our Peterborough office which is the key hub for the team.
The Estuarine and Coastal Monitoring and Assessment Service delivers broad range of marine monitoring and data assessments while providing advice for a wide range of internal and external customers, including Areas, Environment and Business, National Permitting, Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM), Natural England and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS). The team also collaborates with our DEFRA partners to deliver a variety of outcomes for England and the UK.
The successful candidate will have strong GIS and analytical skills and will work on a wide range of tasks with our team of marine specialists that will require a familiarity with marine spatial data and spatial data manipulation. As a team member, you will be involved in a variety of projects and programmes, from quality assurance and control responsibilities to European funded projects such as EUROHAB.

You will understand the role of the Agency as a regulator and consultee in marine environmental management. You will have a background in estuarine and coastal environmental monitoring and assessment with some statistical knowledge that can be developed further. With experience establishing good relationships with stakeholders, you will influence decisions, ensuring technical and scientific advice is fit for purpose and based on best practice. You will be focused on delivering work to time with a clear customer focus.
