We want you to be part of our team that manages the water environment in Hertfordshire and North London. You will help to take care of the water both above and below ground, working to protect drinking water and supporting our rivers and wetlands.

From our Clay and urban catchments to our rare and beautiful Chalk rivers, you will develop our knowledge about the pressures on our water resources by analysing and interpreting the hydrological information we collect. You will be confident in communicating this technical understanding to help us tackle tough issues from new housing to national infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to join the Groundwater and Hydrology team which provides technical support for sustainable water resources decision making. As a team of hydrologists and hydrogeologists you will work alongside other water resources specialists as well as with our Groundwater and Land Quality colleagues.

You will also be expected to work alongside staff from the wider business to help deliver our response to a range of environmental and flooding incidents.
You will have a degree in geography or environmental sciences and ideally have an MSc in hydrology or a related subject. Ideally you are a member of a relevant professional organisation and working towards Chartership. You will have a thorough understanding of hydrology concepts, data and techniques. Alongside this you’ll have experience of the analysis and interpretation of both data and information to inform decision making and problem solving.

You will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ideally have experience of ArcGIS. You will be a confident communicator and be able to convey information and ideas clearly. You will deliver work to high standards, while prioritising and organising your work to achieve results.

The post is based in Welwyn Garden City office, which benefits from limited car parking. As part of your role, you will work with other Areas and will need to carry out site visits.
