In this role you will mainly be depot based and whilst largely administrative will also involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.

You will be responsible for managing all national equipment stored at the depot, ensuring it is maintained to a high standard and ready for use. Working closely with other principal depots ensuring consistency through sharing best practice. This role will require you to take a lead on site, managing the depot on behalf of your line manager and working closely with colleagues to ensure legal compliance is maintained. You will also liaise with our facilities team reporting issues while keeping the site liaison officer updated.

As well as managing the national equipment stored at the depot, you will play your part in ensuring the local equipment and vehicles are maintained and are safe and ready for use.

As you develop technical skills, you will support your field-based colleagues on specialist tasks. This will include providing technical support such as safety systems management, waste management and updating records.

As responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Location: Selby
We have area Operational Field Teams based at Rockingham (near Barnsley), Selby (near York), Tickton (near Beverley) and Pickering, with Selby being Yorkshires principal depot. Each team delivers a varied work program in their catchment area provided by our Asset Performance colleagues, we also work closely with our Hydrometrics, Biodiversity and Environment Management teams.

Computer-literacy is essential, particularly with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (or equivalent). You’ll be able to learn new programs and web-based applications easily. You’ll have experience using, or be willing to learn to use, tablet-style computers and mobile technology.
