We are looking for a motivated self-starter to join the South Humber and East Coast (SHEC) Asset Performance Team until 31.03.2022. This role may become a permanent vacancy from 01.04.2022.
This varied role puts you in the centre of everything we do in managing flood defence assets in this part of Lincolnshire. You’ll manage a range of flood defence structures including; sluices, flood walls, embankments, gates, trash screens, culverts and pumping stations, as well as routine river maintenance work.
You’ll work closely with other Asset Performance Officers and Advisors, Field Teams and the Field Operations Technical and Contract Advisor, as well as providing information on maintenance activities to others.
You will work mainly within the geographical area of the South Ferriby Depot (although this may depend on the successful candidate). You’ll be the single point of contact for all issues arising in your geographical area of work, which includes; responding to customer queries, helping to manage ‘below required condition’ assets and putting together the maintenance programme. You’ll also assist with identifying improvements that may be needed to repair or refurbish our assets.
Although the work is primarily office based, you will be required to carry out occasional site visits.
You’ll work in an experienced and supportive team with a wealth of knowledge they’re keen to share. Our Asset Performance teams make sure that all assets are inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained and operated in a safe and effective manner, to reduce flood risk for people and property, as well as protecting and enhancing the environment.
We are seeking a confident individual with knowledge or experience of asset management.
You should have these essential skills:
• competent with computers and experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
• you will be well organised and have good attention to detail
• be able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
• have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• use problem solving skills that can be applied to a range of situations both in the field and office environments
And ideally:
• some knowledge of asset management
• experience of using GIS to create maps
• experience of using asset management systems eg AIMS
• analytical skills which can be applied to asset management data

Applications from Field Team members are encouraged.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
You will be encouraged to take up an incident management role.
Under normal circumstances you'll be based at Ceres House, but for now you’ll be working from home.
I am offering two sessions where I (and at least one other member of the team) will be available on MS Teams to answer any questions, or for you to find out more about the role. Tuesday, 4th May between 12 noon and 1.30pm and Thursday, 6th May from 8am – 9.30am. Please email me for an invite to one or both of these sessions.
