We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and adaptable individual to join the Partnerships and Strategic Overview team. Your main role will be in the Flood Risk Planning and Permitting work stream. You will:
- Be the first point of contact for customers enquiring about a permit, offering technical and practical advice
- Co-ordinate responses to correspondence, enquiries and data requests, ensuring that customers receive responses within the agreed timeframe
- Facilitate effective working across the team by managing the team mailbox, maintaining and developing information storage and retrieval systems and keeping information up to date and readily accessible

You will also enhance the Area’s incident response capability by having an incident management role. An exciting opportunity to be involved in active Flooding and Environmental incidents.
Partnerships and Strategic Overview Teams work with Risk Management partners to design, develop and deliver flood risk management assets that enhance communities.
We compile, manage and use the best available evidence to inform our long term plans and investment programme.
We provide advice on Flood Risk Assessments to influence the location and design of new developments.
We issue Flood Risk Activity Permits to protect the environment, prevent increasing flood risk and ensure adequate land drainage.
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate some of the following:
- An ability to work under their own initiative and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- An ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
- Organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office (Excel skills are desirable) and other relevant applications
- Ability to assess and use evidence and data to inform decisions and understanding of risk.

The key things we’re looking for are transferable skills and capabilities, so do not be put off applying if you don’t have a degree and/or you don’t have experience in this sector.
We welcome all backgrounds, preferably in an interest in engineering, geography or science discipline.

Interviews will be held remotely. We are all currently working from home, in line with government guidance.
A valid UK driving license is essential for this role as it will involve occasional travel to sites and customer locations.

Full driving licence required
