Working as part of the Area Leadership Team for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, the role is at the beating heart of local delivery, the place where the Environment Agency’s corporate ambitions are translated into actions that create a better place for local communities and businesses.

The day to day work will vary but will focus on administrative duties that enable to the team to work effectively and efficiently, such as diary and email management, handling phone calls and enquiries as well as supporting events and meetings. You will be extremely well organised, adaptable, and resilient. You will approach challenges with a positive attitude and spot opportunities to improve and refresh our processes.

You will be working with colleagues across the organisation and with external partners, often at senior levels. So the ability to build and maintain a working network of contacts is essential and requires excellent communication and influencing skills.

This is a fantastic role for someone who wants to gain an understanding of the breadth of our work at the Environment Agency and contribute to tangible environmental outcomes every day.
This role will support Helen Dobby, Area Director for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and be part of our executive office. Helen works closely with partner organisations and leads on a wide ranging portfolio for the business. In your work with the Area Director, you will see the full spectrum of work that we do and have a chance to get involved with some exciting projects.
You will work as part of leadership team that is responsible for a wide range of activity; from reducing flood risk and regulating industry to protecting and enhancing the stunning natural environment that attracts so many people to Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Your work will help us support over three hundred colleagues to be the best they can be.

You will have good knowledge and experience of resourcing and workload prioritisation. The ability and experience to build relationships with both internal and external partners is essential.

Your experience will include:
• the ability to work collaboratively;
• the ability to deal with sensitive and personal information appropriately;
• good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills;
• good planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales;
• excellent IT and communication skills (including running Microsoft teams).
Your base location does not have to be within the Devon and Cornwall area, but the role will require occasional travel (subject to lifting of Covid restrictions) for meetings and training with potential overnight stops.
