At the Environment Agency we protect and improve the environment. Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate on people and wildlife is at the heart of everything we do. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

We’re investing £5.2billion over the next 6 years to better protect 336,000 properties and reduce national flood risk by up to 11% by 2027. We embrace the latest science and innovation to achieve this. It’s an exciting time and we need your help to ensure we’re prepared for flooding in Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The successful candidates will be drawing upon a diverse range of transferable skills to contribute to our outcomes. Working closely with other teams, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:

• Supporting our flood risk Officers logging and assessing Flood Risk Activity Permits
• Responding to information requests about flooding in the local community
• Helping to improve our flood risk information
• Supporting the team to develop ways to reduce the risk of flooding in communities
• Assisting with our Incident Response activities
Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) plays a huge part in the work that the Environment Agency does; helping communities and partners to better understand and minimise the risks and impact of flooding; increasing the resilience of people and the environment to flooding; and seeking to achieve environmental improvements through the work that we do.
"Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
• Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
• Ability to work within teams
• Be able to use initiative and deliver work to deadlines
• Good organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office

Excellent communication skills are a must as you’ll be working with a diverse range of people.
The key things we’re looking for are transferrable skills and capabilities, so do not be put off applying if you don’t have a degree and/or you don’t have experience in this sector.
As an entry level grade, we welcome all backgrounds but want a person who can demonstrate a passion to improve the local environment.
We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment.

We support flexible working hours and practices to help you strike a good balance between your work life and your personal life. We will also encourage you to keep developing your skills and professional knowledge throughout your career.
