We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and adaptable individual to join the PSO team. You will play a key role in leading flood risk mapping and modelling across Cumbria and Lancashire. Ensuring our data is sound, fit for purpose, available on time for the various customers, internal and external, that we service and embrace the latest technological advancements and storage technology. You will also enhance the Areas incident response capability by having an incident management role.
PSO work with Risk Management Authorities and communities to design, develop, fund and deliver flood risk management assets. We compile and use available evidence through mapping, modelling and data work to inform our plans and investment programme. PSO provide advice on Flood Risk Assessments, working with Sustainable Places to influence location and design of developments. We issue Flood Risk Activity Permits to protect the environment, prevent increases in flood risk and ensure adequate land drainage.
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate:
- Exceptional organisational skills and an advance use of Arc GIS systems, MS Office and other relevant applications (eg. hydraulic modelling software, AutoCAD etc.)
- Working under own initiative and as part of a team to make decisions and innovate to solve problems
- Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
- A technical leader who inspires people and delivers results through others
- Knowledge of, and experience working on, Flood Risk Planning and Permitting, Working with Others and/or Evidence and Risk work streams would be advantageous.
