Do you have a passion for number crunching, statistics and modelling? Are you motivated by spotting patterns, identifying trends and understanding what the data is telling you? Do you like to innovate and try out new ways of working?
If so, we’re looking for a Data Analyst Apprentice full of enthusiasm and potential join our Water Resources team in Operations Catchments Services. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a number of different projects of which the 3 main ones include: National Planning Framework which has water resources modelling at its core, Water Company annual reviews which focuses on data analysis through spread sheets and graphics, and sustainable abstraction. The role will also support other key work areas, all of which would have data handling as a focus offering a great opportunity to get some hands on experience with real data. You would be supported in this role by your line manager and a host of technical experts across the country. Please note the role will require some travel to other Environment Agency sites, external meetings and occasional overnight stays. More information can be found in the candidate pack.
Our ambition is to create a better place for people and wildlife.

The Operations Catchment Services department ensure the right investments and decisions are made to protect and enhance the immediate and future needs of the environment.

You would join our water resources teams which are dispersed across the UK and also be part of a wider apprentice community made up of individuals with different talents and abilities and of all ages and backgrounds.
Background and experience aren't as important as your energy, enthusiasm and commitment as the apprenticeship will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be competent in this role.

You are eligible if:

• You are aged 16 or over
• You are a citizen of the UK or European Economic Area (EEA), or have lived in the UK or EEA for the past 3 consecutive years.
• Ideally have Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE Grades A-C).
• If you currently hold or are working towards a similar apprenticeship or qualification at the same level or higher, then you will not be eligible to apply for this vacancy. In order to be eligible, qualifications previously held or currently being worked towards must have been achieved in a different sector/subject to show that the apprenticeship would give you substantive new skills and personal progression.
You’ll be completing a Data Analyst L4 Apprenticeship through a combination of online learning, classroom training, F2F workshops and on the job experiences with Technical Professionals Ltd. leading that training. A minimum of 20% is delivered off-the-job, the rest of your time will be in the workplace. You’ll be responsible for completing coursework on time, maintaining up to date evidence for your assessments and putting into practice what you’re learning. After successful completion of this apprenticeship you’ll receive the following qualifications: BCS KM1: Data Analysis Tools and BCS KM2: Data Analysis Concepts. Interviews are planned between 2nd-20th December 2019.
