This is an exciting opportunity to join the Flood Resilience team and make a difference by supporting communities to prepare for flooding.

The Flood Resilience Team is at the heart of the Environment Agency's incident management in West Midlands. It is our job to ensure that we, our partners, and our communities are prepared for flooding, and are able to respond effectively before, during and after a flood.

As part of a varied and challenging workload you will:
- ensure we provide a first class response to flood incidents by maintaining our systems and procedures and contribute to the delivery of training and exercising to staff;
- support the team to plan and deliver engagement with local communities, to increase awareness of flood risk and knowledge of appropriate actions to take in response to flooding;
- work with professional partners to support multi-agency planning and preparation for flood incidents;
- contribute to our wider incident response in line with your skills and experience.
Our Flood Resilience Team ensures we are resilient and ready for incidents by:
• maintaining our flood warning systems;
• working with communities at risk from flooding, providing advice on what to do before, during and after flooding;
• maintaining our incident room and supporting the training and exercising of our staff;
• working with our professional partners to ensure we all pull together for the best response.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, able to use a range of styles to address different audiences, with experience of community engagement being desirable;
- be well organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and maintain attention to detail to ensure your work is delivered to a high standard;
- be self-motivated working well in team environment and under your own initiative;
- have competent IT and data skills
Closing Date: 30th September 2018 at 23:55 hours
You will be expected to play a full part in our incident response in line with your skills and experience. This may mean taking up a role on one of our duty rosters.
You will be based in our Fradley, Lichfield or our Tewksbury office with some travel around the West Midlands area required.
This is a full time role, but other working patterns can be considered.
The Environment Agency is proud to be a Stonewall Top 100 Employer.
