Flooding represents a crucial challenge both now and into the future as the impacts of climate change become apparent. We need individuals who want to play a key role in making the East Midlands a greener, more resilient and a better place to live and work. We are looking for a Field Team Leader to lead and manage our Draycott Field Operations teams.
You will be responsible for protecting people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood defence assets and responding to incidents. You will manage large budgets and lead large teams in a high-risk environment. You will ensure operatives are trained and competent and have the right tools/equipment to enable them to support and respond to an incident. Specifically, you will:
● Provide leadership and direction to assist in the assurance of our overall asset management and emergency response services.
● Maintain a close overview on the health, safety and wellbeing of the team due to the high-risk nature of field work; the requirement to work in or near a watercourse/coast and to regularly operate plant and other specialist equipment.
● Ensure the delivery of our maintenance programmes to support our asset management strategy and meet the principles of whole life-cycle asset management.
● Ensure their team have the capabilities, training and experience necessary to respond professionally during flooding and environmental incidents to meet our aspiration to be recognised as a world class asset and incident management service.
Incident response remains a top priority for the Environment Agency. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
