We are looking for an Environmental Monitoring Officer based in the Analysis and Reporting Team. In this role, you will be required to assist in the delivery of our environmental monitoring and investigation programme. The role will include a wide range of field based survey work and a significant amount of laboratory work in the form of invertebrate analysis.
The team is responsible for ensuring chemistry and ecology monitoring programs collect the information we need for a variety of legislative, national and local requirements. The team is comprised of officers skilled in monitoring field-work, laboratory work, and with an expertise in assessing this monitoring data and turning it into evidence. This evidence informs the wider business and ultimately helps underpin environmental improvements largely through our work with the Water Framework Directive.
We are seeking candidates with an interest and/or experience in the practical and theoretical aspects of freshwater ecology. A proportion of time in the post will be taken up with collecting and analysing freshwater invertebrate samples, experience of fieldwork and taxonomic skills would be desirable. There will be opportunities to assist with WFD investigations, where an aptitude for problem solving is essential. Other requirements include good communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy

The role is flexible between Hafren House, Shrewsbury and Riversmeet House, Tewkesbury. Travel throughout the area may be necessary therefore the post requires a full driving licence.

Driving licence required
