You will have a good understanding of FCRM datasets, products and systems and have an appreciation of the wider use and implications of flood risk mapping, modelling and data. You will be comfortable working with mapping, modelling and data colleagues and contractors but also be able communicate information to non-technical audiences. You will have experience of collating and managing a prioritised programme of works incorporating the needs of multiple teams.
Our PSO teams develop the technical knowledge needed to deliver a strategic overview of flooding, providing compelling evidence to support our Flood Resilience work. We work closely with partners to understand and manage flood and coastal erosion risk in order to benefit communities. We work with all authorities and deliverers to specify, plan, fund and create assets to achieve outcomes, including influencing the location and flood management of new development through spatial planning.
You’ll need to understand and be able to overcome the technical challenges in identifying and delivering flood risk solutions. Ideally, you will be a member of a professional body such as ICE or CIWEM. However, you will also be known as someone who can present solutions to complex problems in a simple way to gain the confidence and trust of our partners. You’ll be highly organised and known as someone who can work with others to deliver real improvements on the ground.
