You’ll help manage the Environment Agency’s range of flood defence assets in Thames area including sluices, flood walls, embankments, locks, weirs, culverts and pumping stations as well as routine river maintenance work. The work is varied and will include data and financial management, specification and review of works, management of minor construction projects and comprehensive asset maintenance as well as dealing with the public and professional organisations.
The role is based in Farnham, Surrey. The work will include both office and site work, site work will be required both during fine and inclement weather throughout the year.
A key part of the role will be assisting with incident response and you will fulfil a flood risk incident management duty role which can involve organising personnel, supervising work , working in our incident room and dealing with environmental incidents.
You’ll work in one of two experienced and friendly team asset performance teams. We manage flood risk maintenance activities and Environment Agency operated flood defences in the Thames Area, some of which are set in the most heavily populated areas in the country. The number and type of assets being managed in our asset performance teams is increasing and we need someone who is versatile to help us manage this.
You will have worked for an asset management client organisation or contractor. You will have delivered projects for them or supervised delivery of work. From your work and/or qualifications you will have experience of engineering and/or construction and allied work and be able to manage multiple pieces of work/projects at the same time. You will be comfortable working within a team and on your own.
You should have:
• Project Management experience
• Engineering qualification and/or practical experience (civil, mechanical/electrical)
• Safety, Health & Environment experience and awareness
• Comfortable using information technology and associated software
• Be able to work/communicate with staff and customers whom may be distant
• Keenness to learn and develop
• Full driving licence

Your work will require frequent travel, estimated to be 2 days per week although this will vary from week to week. Travel will be around Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire but may well include occasional trips to other offices and venues across England. Business travel is paid for. A lease car will be provided with the role.
